2009 Goals

So 1 day down, 364 to go until 2010. I have a few goals to accomplish before then. I wrote a few days back about the result of my 2008 goals. I accomplished all but one, and that one will start off my 2009 goals.

1. Pay Off My Wife's Student Loan - This is one we had planned to get accomplished this past fall, but my wife needed a car so that took precedence. She only has about $2,700 in loans from her last year in school when she was living on her own. We're hoping to get rid of this debt and free up $50 a month by March.

2. Paint/Furnish the House - This is one we've been planning since we moved into our new house 2 years ago, but something always has been more important. I refuse to go into debt on things like furniture when the furniture we have may be old and used but it gets the job done. We also want to paint the house because as of right now every room in the house is beige and boring. Hopefully we can have a lot of this accomplished by June.

3. Pay Down the New Car - Every other dollar we have lying around will go to paying down the principal on my wife's car. The quicker we can get it paid off, the better. One thing will be getting in the way of paying this off and that takes us to goal number 4.

4. Start a Family - My wife is 22 years old and has got the worst case of baby fever. We had planned to wait 3 years before starting a family but it looks like we'll be starting just a little early. At 28 years old I'm not getting any younger, and I want to be a dad whose able to play with my kids for many years to come. We're hoping to have a baby late 2009 or early 2010. God willing of course.

What about you? What are some of your goals for 2009?

Looks like we have some very similar goals... Veronica and I have recently constructed a plan to bring down both of our student loans - hopefully in the next year or two... The hardest part is sticking to it! Good luck!

Yep, luckily my wife just had the $2,700. Mine is still around $13,000. So it will take a few more years on that one.
